The vivid stories of Istria strengthen the presence of IstraTerra on foreign markets

With IstraTerra’s commitment to the creation of integrated tourism products which contribute to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage by joining local tourist service providers together, they are following a sustainable future in tourism. On the 27th and 28th September, Slovenia was host to the international conference Global Green Destinations Day 2016, which amongst other things presented local tourism offers.
By creating vivid stories, IstraTerra supports local providers, invests in local communities and offers the highest quality service for a fair price. “The tourist products of IstraTerra are based on connecting local providers, which is why it was logical that we did not go to the Slovenian capital alone, but with our local partners – local tourist service providers. This international conference gave us the opportunity to present ourselves as a united front to foreign tourism agencies and other tourist organisations, whilst starting to weave a network of new contacts in international networks in the field of sustainable tourism”, said director Urška Križman Vižintin after the event. To which she added that in the future we need to take advantage of the fact that Slovenia was voted the first green country in the world – achieving 96% in accordance with the Green Destinations criteria.
The Top 100 Sustainable Destinations 2016 contest also presented the most successful sustainable tourism destinations in the world, which is why for IstraTerra, Ljubljana – the Green Capital of Europe, was key for establishing new connections and access to strategic partners and international networks. The event brought together the leading sustainability oriented destinations from around the world, tourism service providers, agencies, hoteliers, representatives of companies that offer green solutions in tourism and representatives of government and non-government institutions active in the field of designing sustainable policies.
New acquaintances and responses to the vivid stories of IstraTerra are encouraging, which is why during the winter season we will be rolling up our sleeves, so that these encouraging responses will turn into business opportunities for rural Istria and new tourists.
